Removal Action Requested
In August 2021, MassDEP requested support from the EPA to conduct removal actions at certain residential properties in the Bliss Corner neighborhood where elevated levels of lead and/or polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) have been identified in surficial soil.
In September 2021, the Town of Dartmouth received the official request from the EPA to conduct a Removal Action. The EPA Case Team reviewed the information and determined that levels of PCBs and lead in residential soils pose a significant health risk to human health. The time-critical removal action proposed will address the five residential properties which exceed both the MassDEP IH and the EPA RMLs for either lead or PCBs.
